I started doing Pilates in 2010 - I had 3 children and thought my core was weaker as result. I had started to experience lower back pain particularly when standing still even for a short period of time.
I enjoyed the classes so much and felt my back was feeling better. Doing Pilates also made me aware of my posture and moving in a way which was better for my spine and joints. I noticed how going to classes improved my state of mind as well as my body. For the first time I had discovered exercise that I didn't like to miss and I still go to classes now at least every week. I decided teaching Pilates was something I would really love to do and so I obtained my Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Modern Pilates in 2012. This was a lengthy and thorough course and I started teaching straight away.
I have taught my own classes at Bramhall Queensgate Tennis Club since 2013 and I also teach at Pure Balance Pilates and Physiotherapy studio in Congleton. I have taught at Pure Balance since 2018. In 2022 I qualified to teach pilates on large equipment with Pilates Training Solutions which enables me to teach 1:1 clients at Pure Balance on the Reformer, Cadillac, Arc Barrel and Wunda Chair. I do offer private sessions 1:1 or 1:2 at a client's home.
I have completed further training in Adapting Exercise for the Older Adult and added on to classes at Bramhall Queensgate Tennis Club for Older Adults on Mondays 10.45 and Fridays 10.45.
I give clear explanations, can cater for different levels and can modify exercises for an individual if necessary. I like to make the classes challenging but also relaxing. I keep classes varied from week to week using a variety of props and positions and feel that I can quickly put my classes at their ease. I aim for all my classes to make progress but have fun doing it.
I keep my classes relatively small as I like to observe and correct technique and offer alternatives for individuals. For this reason I work on a pay in advance by term basis which runs in line with school holidays. Terms are usually 6 or 7 weeks. You can find term dates on my Facebook page. My classes are:
Classes cost £8 and are payable a term in advance. Please bring a mat and a cushion or hand towel.
